Privacy Policy
Amberdash is made by Adam Mohd Isa, an individual developer. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version is that everything you create in the app stays on your iPhone, and the single exception is the approximate location that the weather widget sends out to fetch a forecast, which is described in full below.
There is no account, no analytics SDK, no advertising, and no tracking in this app. The only thing that leaves your device is the weather widget asking Open-Meteo for a forecast, using coordinates rounded to about 1 km, and that request goes out again every time the widget refreshes.
What we collect
We do not collect anything on a server of ours, because the app has no server of ours. Everything described below is created and kept on your device, inside the app container that iOS gives to Amberdash.
Location
Trip speedometer
When you start a trip, the app uses precise location while that trip runs, including while the app is in the background, so that your speed, distance, and trip time keep updating in the widget and on screen. Those readings stay on the device and never leave it. You can deny or revoke location access in the iOS Settings app at any time, and the rest of the app keeps working without it.
Weather widget
The weather widget is the only part of Amberdash that talks to the internet. Every time the widget refreshes, it sends approximate coordinates, rounded to about 1 km, to Open-Meteo at open-meteo.com in order to fetch the forecast for your area, so this is a repeating request and not a one-time one. There is no account and no API key involved, and nothing is sent that identifies you or your device. If you never add the weather widget, no request is ever made.
Parking widget
When you save a parking spot, the app stores that location on your device only. It is never uploaded anywhere, and you can clear it in the app whenever you want.
Calendar
If you allow calendar access, the app reads your calendar only to show your next event in a widget. Access is read-only, it happens on the device, and the app never writes to your calendar and never copies your events off the device.
Photos
Photos you pick for a widget are stored on your device, inside the app container. The app only receives the pictures you choose yourself, it does not browse your library, and nothing you pick is uploaded.
Startup sounds
Startup sounds run through the iOS Shortcuts app on your phone. The sound plays locally on your device, and no recording, no audio, and no trigger information is sent anywhere.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple, both the auto-renewable subscriptions, Premium Weekly and Premium Yearly, and the one-time Premium Lifetime purchase. Apple tells the app whether your purchase is active, and that is all we receive. We never see your name, your card, or any other payment detail.
What we never do
- No analytics SDK and no crash reporting SDK.
- No advertising and no ad identifiers.
- No tracking of you across apps or websites.
- No account, no sign-up, and no email required to use the app.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of your data, because there is nothing collected to sell.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your trips, parking spots, chosen photos, and settings live on your device for as long as Amberdash is installed. Deleting the app removes the app container together with everything in it. You can also clear individual items inside the app.
Children
Amberdash is a general audience utility and it is not directed at children. Since the app collects no personal information on any server, it holds nothing about a child either.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, the updated version is published on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after that date means the updated policy applies.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Malaysia.
